Core Knowledge History & Geography
Third graders journey through time and across the globe in the third grade history and geography curriculum. The third graders will study the rise and fall of Ancient Rome, one of the greatest empires in history. Then, they will travel to North America and study its extensive history from the earliest Native Americans, the Vikings and European explorers through Colonial America.
The majority of lessons in third grade are oral read alouds. The students will hear stories and information as well as viewing maps, images, and artifacts to help bring the historical narratives to life. There is no textbook for history in third grade. Therefore, if a student misses a lesson, it is important for him or her to have a chance to see and hear the missed material. Below you will find access to this material for the current unit.
